A ticket pocket is a small additional pocket usually placed above the main right-hand jacket pocket. It began as a practical detail and is now most often seen on country jackets, tweed suits and traditional tailoring.

The detail can add character without making a jacket look too fashionable. On a tweed jacket or country suit, a ticket pocket often feels entirely at home.

When a Ticket Pocket Works Well

  • Tweed jackets: It suits the traditional countrywear look.
  • Wedding suits: It can add detail to a groom's outfit without being excessive.
  • Sports jackets: It gives a jacket a slightly more tailored appearance.

Livingston Advice

A ticket pocket is best used when it suits the cloth and purpose of the garment. It is a traditional detail, but not every suit needs one.
